"Streamlining Toll Payments: NHAI's 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' Initiative"

In an effort to enhance the efficiency of toll collection systems, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative. This move comes after recent reports highlighted issues such as multiple FASTags being issued for a single vehicle and FASTags being distributed without proper Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation, violating the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) mandate.
Starting from January 31, 2024, FASTags with incomplete KYC will be deactivated by banks, even if they have a valid balance. The objective is to discourage the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles and prevent the linking of multiple FASTags to a particular vehicle.Users are encouraged to complete the KYC process for their latest FASTag, following RBI guidelines, to ensure a seamless experience at toll plazas. It is crucial for users to adhere to the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' principle and discard any previously issued FASTags through their respective banks. Only the latest FASTag account will remain active, as previous tags will be deactivated or blacklisted after the specified date. With a penetration rate of around 98% and over 8 crore users, FASTag has significantly revolutionized electronic toll collection in the country. NHAI's initiative aims to make toll operations more efficient, providing users with seamless and comfortable journeys. For any assistance or queries, FASTag users can reach out to the nearest toll plazas or the toll-free customer care number provided by their respective issuer banks. NHAI's proactive measures seek to address issues of multiple FASTags per vehicle and ensure a smoother experience for all national highway users.Stay tuned for further updates on this initiative and its impact on toll operations.
